Some of the highlights from the evening.
As we sit here trying to unpick the blur from last weekend’s RAF Centenary celebrations, it becomes clear that a fun-packed and mesmerising day was had by all (LTT included) at the RAF Cosford Air Show.
The Learning Technologies Team have recently been using Minecraft Education (v1.028) to engage learners in literacy and have to say, we’re delighted with the results. St Stephen’s Year 3 class enjoyed themselves too and produced some excellent work.
Its 4pm on a sunny Thursday afternoon, and another LTT Geolocation day has come to an end. This is one of many that have been planned and booked in by schools over the coming weeks and I look forward to each and everyone of them - even if I was in the snow a few weeks ago!
Over the years common phrases amongst adults have been “I don’t do maths!” and “that’s not for me.” However, these phrases are now more closely linked to the use and teaching of technology. (Consuming rather than creating.)
As the children were busy building robots to take on the trials planned for them, a quick glance above would give a clue as to a potential role in engineering that could grow from their interest in STEM.

Minecraft: Education Edition is an open-world game that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment where the only limit is your imagination.
Minecraft has the ability to disguise learning in a game format to allow those students who don’t get involved in the standard lesson. The sandbox style game allows educators to incorporate Minecraft into any curriculum.
On Wednesday 28th June, Year 7 students from local Secondary schools: Colton Hills, Heath Park and Moreton Community joined Learning Technologies and HeadStart staff for a fun-filled day at Kingswood Trust.
