Publishing

This project can be adapted to meet the bespoke needs of a school and provides pupils with an engaging purpose for writing. Children will be taught a variety of publishing tools that incorporate a diverse range of multi-media approaches to bring writing to life. The outcome of this project will be an eBook.

MineCraft

This extremely popular video game lends itself to a variety of exciting and creative English outcomes. pupils are taught to build a world including settings and characters and use narration techniques to bring a story to life. Pupils can be transported to pre-created locations around the world which can then provide a fantastic stimulus for a variety of writing genres.

Podcasting 

This project provides pupils with a dynamic way in which to share their writing. This project can be adapted to cover a wide range of writing outcomes including narrative, advertisements, news reports and Poetry. Pupils will learn how to record and edit their podcasts and learn the value of music and sound effects to create the perfect tone and mood for their writing.

Film Making

This project allows pupils to gain an understanding of the world of creating films and will take on all aspects of the film making process. Including filming techniques script writing, story boarding, filming, editing and post film effects. the film can be linked to a variety of English writing types for example Fiction short film or a tv news style report.

BoomWriter

This project will provide pupils with the opportunity to write for an audience of their peers. Writing is created and judged by pupils on agreed success criteria. The winning chapter becomes the published work and the story follows on in a dynamic way. At the end of the project schools can purchase copies of the printed book.

Choose your own adventure

This project provides pupils with a dynamic format for creating non-linear narrative. The project will develop an understanding of the complexities of creating a branching story and the computational processes that support the planning of the text. pupils will also be taught to use multimedia (images and music/sound effects) to create an engaging adventure for a particular audience.

Video Games in Writing

This project provides pupils with the highly engaging stimulus of video games as a gateway into writing opportunities. Across a number of games writing for a number of different genres can be created. The main benefit of using video games as a stimulus for writing is the ownership the children have over the scenarios that are created.
